DIY GUIDE / FABRIC CHOICE
Start with the job
your fabric will do.
Color matters, but construction and intended use come first. “Sunbrella” covers different fabric categories; choose the exact material for the project.
Cushions and pillows
Upholstery fabric is a useful starting point. Check the product’s listed indoor or outdoor application, width, texture, and construction. Follow a suitable pattern for your cushion or pillow type.
Awnings, shade and fitted covers
Look for fabrics whose stated use matches the job. Marine seating and marine tops or covers can require different materials. Do not assume that upholstery fabric and shade fabric are interchangeable or that every fabric has the same water behavior.
Sling seating
Sling fabric is a specialty category. Confirm that the exact material, width, edge construction, and attachment method suit the chair. If the construction is uncertain, ask a qualified fabricator before ordering.
See the color in person
A manufacturer sample can help you judge color and texture in your own light. It is separate from our whole-piece stock and does not verify the condition of a particular piece.
